Configuration
Galene is configured with environment variables. Everything has a default; behind a TLS-terminating proxy you usually need GALENE_COOKIE_SECURE=1 plus adapter headers PROTOCOL_HEADER=x-forwarded-proto and HOST_HEADER=host.
| Variable | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
GALENE_DATA_DIR |
./data |
Directory for the database file. In the container image this is /app/data. |
GALENE_DB_PATH |
$GALENE_DATA_DIR/galene.db |
Full path to the SQLite database. |
PORT |
3000 |
HTTP port (production server). |
GALENE_COOKIE_SECURE |
follows NODE_ENV |
1 sets the session cookie’s Secure flag, 0 clears it. The compose file ships with "0" for plain HTTP; set "1" behind a TLS-terminating proxy. |
PROTOCOL_HEADER / HOST_HEADER |
unset | Bun adapter proxy headers — set PROTOCOL_HEADER=x-forwarded-proto and usually HOST_HEADER=host behind TLS. See Reverse proxy. |
GALENE_ALLOW_EPHEMERAL_DATA |
unset | 1 disables the startup check that the data directory is a mounted volume. Throwaway containers only. |
Single sign-on is configured in Settings → Security. Optional GALENE_OIDC_* variables override those fields when set — see Single sign-on (OIDC), Authentik (OIDC), and the full table in Environment variables.
How PORT and the data directory behave in each deployment: Docker & Compose, Podman, From source.
