Public demo mode
Set GALENE_DEMO=1 on a dedicated instance (separate data volume from production) to run a public demo.
What it does
Section titled “What it does”- On first start with an empty users table, creates
[email protected]/demopass1(admin) and loads realistic sample accounts, transactions, budgets, and schedules. - Locks (both UI and API): bank sync, backups, API tokens / MCP HTTP, advisor access, SSO settings, creating additional user accounts, and publishing a theme to the theme gallery (403).
- Skips the bank-sync and scheduled-backup loops.
- Refuses Bearer API-token authentication.
Two-factor (TOTP) on the demo account remains available; only SSO configuration is locked.
Hosting
Section titled “Hosting”Operator files for Quadlet, a 6-hour UTC data-reset timer, Caddy rate-limit example, and resource caps live in the app repo under deploy/demo/. Use a hostname such as demo.example.com with TLS in front; do not attach real Plaid, SMTP, or bank credentials.
Until demo mode is published on :latest, operators may temporarily run the demo unit on :test for verification.
